Though the Indian Heliotrope (Heliotropium indicum) is not technically a heliotrope, its signature scorpion’s tail works to maximize 360-degree light capture. Its fixed orientation and radiating flowers creates micro-climates of shade and light that protect seed pods. Progressive growth along its stem extends the pollination window over weeks to protect it from adverse climate events.
